On Tuesday, April 21st, David and I took a road trip down to Salem to attend Day One of the Oregon Bike Summit. We weren’t just going because we love cycling AND we love Oregon, but also to give a sneak preview of the Travel Oregon Cycling website we’re currently working on. And you can read all about it here:

Thanks to Jonathan Maus from BikePortland.org for writing a great recap on our presentation. We only had about 20 minutes to talk about all the brand strategy and functionality we’ve been working on for the last four months, so we might have rushed, left questions unanswered, or skipped features entirely. In fact, we’re sure we did. But, don’t worry. With the site launching in mid-May, we’ll be able to provide a more comprehensive view of the site and the concept behind it.

As we said in our presentation, we can’t thank the steering committee for the cycling site enough for their involvement, passion and contributions to the site. And a super shout-out to our friends at Travel Oregon for their tireless belief that cycling and tourism are a match made in cycle-heaven. We couldn’t agree more.

But most of all, thanks to the supportive and dedicated cycling community from all across this great state of ours. It’s all of you, the cyclists of Oregon (and visiting Oregon), that get out and ride no matter the weather, on all sorts of bikes, for all sorts of rides. Through your participation and enthusiasm, you make Oregon a special place to be on a bike. It’s really a testament to the amazing bike culture we have in Oregon that has journalists from the New York Times writing articles about us, and draws people from all over the world to experience our state on two (or one, or three, depending on your -cycle choice) wheels. This site is for, and about, all of you. Celebrate the ride.

More photos from the Oregon Bike Summit and our presentation (which includes photos of the new website!) can be found on BikePortland’s Flickr profile (photos 1-14 to 1-26).
