Yes We Can – what’s next for Logobama.com

On November 4th, millions of Americans went to the polls and voted… they demanded that their voices would be heard. Americans voted for hope over fear, they voted for change over complacency, and they voted for the future of their children and their childrens’ children. On the evening of November 4th, Barack Obama took the stage in Chicago as President-Elect of the United States of America.

Since February 29, 2008, Logobama.com has allowed people around the world to voice their opinion: their support, their disagreement, their hopes and dreams. This site will continue to represent not what we are limited to, but the opportunity ahead. As Obama said in his acceptance speech, “This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change.” As a country, we must work together to make this change happen. We must fight as if we are right, but listen as if we are wrong. We are the change we have been waiting for. That change is upon us. How we will step in to this challenge will define us, and create our future.

We at Substance World Headquarters have been inspired and active during the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election. We channeled this inspiration to create Logobama.com, a site that allows people to upload a photo, position it within the Obama logo, colorize the logo, and save it to use on a number of social networks. Thirty five weeks after launching the site, the election has been decided. Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States. Seventy four people donated over $1,700 through the Logobama site, and as of this writing over 32,300 Logobamas have been created.

An experiment in social involvement, Logobama reveals the best and the worst in people: their optimism, their fears, their beliefs, and their future. Next Monday will mark the final chapter in weekly Logobama updates, and we’ll look at the trends, traffic and results of the life and times of Logobama.com. The site will remain live, we’ll continue to accept submissions to the Flickr gallery, and we’ll continue monitor how usage changes since Election Day leading up until Inauguration Day on January 20, 2009. But the weekly recaps will come to a ceremonial end with the fanfare, grandeur and charts you’ve come to expect.

This is by no means the end of Logobama.com, but the beginning of the next chapter in change. We couldn’t have done this experiment without thousands of people being involved in the site, contributing their messages and money, and taking part in this presidential election. Logobama.com isn’t our site; it’s everyone’s. Thank you again for your participation. We look forward to the future of Logobama.com, and the future of the United States. There’s a lot of work to be done. Let’s get to it.

Thank you for Logobama. I was delighted to use your handy program to frame my grandkids photos as a pictorial record of this historic election.

I discovered today, Nov 11th, that I can no longer do it because I get directed to a server error message. But I made a second small donation notwithstanding to show my gratitude.

    Substance truly represents just that.

    Sincerely,
    Renee Ascher

Renee, thanks for the heads up. We fixed this problem and everything should be operating normally now.
