Interesting and Interesting.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with some great clients over the last twenty two months. One of the things we’ve done for many of our clients is enable them to share their stories, thoughts and perspectives with their audiences. And not that we’re surprised, but they have some interesting things to say. So if you’re looking for some inspiration, make sure to check out some good thinking.

Bambu blog: bambuhome.com/philosophy/bambu-blog/

Jeff, Rachel and our friends at bambu have some amazing stuff going on. They’re creating sustainable products, introducing new methods of manufacturing, and best of all, sharing their story and philosophy online. We’ve often said that the products of the future need to explain “why,” not just what, and bambu’s blog helps share this insight and passion for why the products, and the company, exists.

Cinco blog: cincodesign.com/culture

The folks at Cinco are doing really cool stuff for the likes of Nixon, Electronic Arts, and Microsoft. In their Culture section, they share the stuff they’re seeing, hearing and experiencing. From the creation of the Spore identity to their review of the 2008 Handmade Bicycle Show, they’re constantly looking for what’s next.

Authenticity Book Journal: authenticitybook.com/category/journal

Authenticity Book Real Links: authenticitybook.com/category/real-links

Joe Pine and Jim Gilmore didn’t stop thinking about Authenticity when they finished writing the book. The AuthenticityBook.com site is a continuation of the concept of authenticity, and there are two sections that highlight their continued thinking… the Journal is a collection of the experiences they encounter that shape the definition of “authenticity.” The Real Links are sites and stories around the internet that they find relevant to the topic. Both are great ways for continuing the conversation about what authenticity means.

Advanced Competitive Strategies: whatifyourstrategy.com/blog/

One of our most recent projects, the website for Advanced Competitive Strategies is an exploration into the nonlinear aspects of business, and how ACS helps their clients rethink their business strategies. The blog on the site allows ACS to share what they’re thinking across a number of topics. Even if you’re not a business person, it’s great “give your brain a workout” ideas.

Substance Labs: labs.findsubstance.com

A sub-section of the Substance brand, Substance Labs is our sandbox for developing new approaches, introduce our experiments, and provide technology perspectives. Shaun Tinney, our Director of Experimental Projects, heads up the Labs section and is constantly looking at ways to push the boundaries on what we do, and help others do the same.

Interesting Portland.

In other interesting news, we were alerted by our friends Emily Reed (Conformists Unite) and Russell Davies from the Open Intelligence Agency about the next installment of the Interesting conference… to be located here in Portland, Oregon. How sweet is that? Of course we jumped at the chance to volunteer our services to concept, design and build the site for the event.

More importantly, the initial planning stages are just getting underway. If you’d like to help organize Interesting Portland, you’re invited to participate. Join us at Caffe Umbria (303 NW 12th, Portland) at 8am on October 23rd. More info on the Conformists Unite blog and Russell Davies’ blog. Don’t know what an Interesting conference is? They’ve had them in London, Sydney, Amsterdam and New York City, and Vancouver happens on October 24th.

More to come about Interesting Portland in the upcoming weeks and months, and we hope to see you organizing-types on Thursday.

Great to see hands get on board for another West Coast Interesting. We had a great time in Vancouver. There might have a busload heading south for Interesting Portland.
