Things have been a bit quiet here on the site, but not because we haven’t had stuff going on. We’ve just been spending our free time (as well as much of our non-free time) getting Substance World Headquarters 3.0 (SWHQ 3.0) ready for business. As you can see above, Todd is in the process of putting together the second Substance Long Table so we can invite like-minded folks to join us in our mission of making meaning.
Substance Moving Day is planned for Friday, September 26th (mark it on your calendars). With this date rapidly approaching, reality is setting in and serious progress is being made. And yet, serious progress still needs to be made…
Here’s what has been done so far:
- the main space is painted
- electrical is complete (almost)
- bathroom/storage closet is framed and drywalled
- ceiling insulation is installed
- toilet is installed (very important!)
- utility sink is installed
- floors are sealed
- construction on Substance Long Table II underway
Here’s what still needs to be done:
- finish construction on Substance Long Table II
- paint accent color behind kitchenette
- attach cedar sheathing on bathroom/closet exterior
- install kitchenette cabinets and countertop
- install kitchenette sink and dishwasher (woo! dishwasher!)
- install bathroom sink
- paint and attach finishing trim
- install ceiling fans
- install new garage door
- hook up phones and internet
- clean up
- MOVE
Hmm… the list of stuff that needs to be done is longer than the stuff already done. That’s probably not a good sign. In the meantime, you can view photos of the current progress in the SWHQ 3.0 Flickr set. Or below, if you’re on the site:
There is not nearly enough, if any, alcohol in those pictures. It’ll help you get done faster.

You can go ahead and check off items 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8. We’re ahead of the game. Number 1 should be done this weekend. w00t!
