We’ve been in our current location now for almost a year, which can mean only one thing: we’re moving.
That’s right, Substance is moving yet again, but we think this time will be the last time for a few years. We thought 700 sq. ft. would last us at least a couple years, but now we’ve got the long table maxed out at 6 people and the need to add more, but no room to expand.
Where are we moving? To 2,500 sq. ft. of future awesomeness at 1551 SE Poplar. It’s a great location on the edge of Ladd’s Addition, and conveniently right behind Cafe Castagna. The move will take place at the end of September, and the next few weeks will be preparing the space for work. Things like putting in a bathroom, kitchenette, lighting, painting, fans, sheathing some of the walls, bike storage, etc.

It’s mostly been demo and cleaning as of late, as is evident in this video of Cory, the one man wrecking machine.

I hope you are getting significant TI allowances from your landlord. Or are you just squatting like the last tenant?
It’s so Reservoir Dogs in there. I really don’t understand the whole campfire thing but maybe you could dress a mannequin up as a policeman and tie him to a chair in the middle of the room. I am sure one day a client would think it was funny.
