bambu in the house.

Last Thursday, our friends from bambu traveled all the way to Portland, Oregon from Shanghai, China just to visit us. Okay, maybe not the only reason… something about family in town, and going to Las Vegas for the Gourmet Housewares Show.

Ever since we met Jeff and Rachel almost a year ago, we’ve had interesting conversations about business, sustainability, and life. And for a few hours on Thursday, we continued this trend, talking about the development of Shanghai (they showed us some great pics of the city), their experiences in manufacturing a sustainable product line, the concept of deed brands, and how a couple drinks can end up getting you involved in a new business idea (we can relate to that).

We also talked a bit about their new site, and the response they’ve been receiving. People are saying, “the product information is great, but we’re also really enjoying all the philosophy stuff… why you guys are in business, and why the products are made in a certain way.” We’re glad to hear this, as we thought the important part of the site wasn’t simply the product catalog, but why they decided to make meaning.

bambu, have fun in Vegas, and we’ll hopefully see you again the next time you’re state-side. Or, we’ll start planning our trip to Shanghai. And thanks for the new cutting boards! They’re awesome.

    Hey Guys

Thanks for the stimulating conversation. We seem to frequently get into the topic of authenticity.

And the authentic bagels from Kettleman’s fit the bill nicely. And your new cutting boards.

    Thanks for the coffee

Update from Las Vegas – bambu was awarded the industry’s first Best of Show in Green Design. We were thrilled to be honored with this recognition.!
