Yesterday I was invited to speak at the Food Alliance’s 10th Anniversary Industry Forum. I was honored to be part of a panel with Lynette Xanders of Wild Alchemy and Jen Maxwell-Muir of Maxwell PR, to discuss the role of brand and digital brand in marketing sustainability. We had the pleasure of speaking to farmers, ranchers, packers, processors and distributors about what makes their brand special and personal, and how to take that voice and share it in a public way.
It was great to see so many people in the food industry committed to sustainable agriculture and interested in getting their stories out there. I think as more and more people turn away from the idea of food as nutrition and the idea of food as food, where our food comes from and how it is grown, produced and delivered will be come an even more important story. For myself, helping my children understand where food comes from and how it gets from farm to table is a wonderful thing. I love the idea of companies like those involved in the Food Alliance creating the opportunity to teach about life on the farm or the ranch and sharing that experience with others. I look forward to the blogs and galleries that might come from our talk, and invite anyone who participated to share their ideas, experiences and outcomes here.
