You can’t dismiss the importance of inspiration.

“…if you are talking about trying to lead a movement, trying to change the world, then you sure as hell better be an inspiring figure. You don’t have to be slick or polished… but you do necessarily have to connect, inspire, and motivate. That’s what leaders do.”

Great post over at Presentation Zen about the role inspiration, emotion and motivation play in creating a great leader. Interestingly, the same idea applies to creating relationships with people through digital media. Good, relevant content is absolutely necessary. But add in some emotion and some inspiration, and you can motivate people to participate in the conversation and accomplish anything. Case in point, the “Yes We Can” video created by people who believe in Barack Obama.
