If you were eagerly waiting for photos from our Year One Outing to Mt. Hood… well, wait no longer.

The lift ride up to the top… beautiful day. The sky was this incredible, vibrant blue.

Looking back over the mountains and valleys, it reminds you that you’re sitting on this little chair, hanging from a wire, thousands of feet up, with wide open, empty trails below. And most other people are sitting in their offices.

above, from left: David and Shaun on the lift. I think Shaun is trying to hide or something.

above, from left: Cory and Todd on the lift. Haven’t mentioned Cory before, so more about Cory later this week.

A fantastic day, and a great way to celebrate the first year. We’ve built Substance around this idea of being results oriented: it isn’t about how many hours you work per week, it’s about the results you produce, or ROWE (Results Only Work Environment, as Mavericks at Work explains). This kind of philosophy allows us to take a day and remember why we started the company. We’re busier now than we’ve ever been, but that’s no reason to stay off the mountain. Sometimes you just need the snow. Sometimes you need to put in the late nights. Most of the time, it’s both. As long as the awesomeness gets done, and it’s done better each time.
Here’s to amazing results, always doing better, mountain days, and one year.
p.s. Must figure out a way to get back to Meadows soon.
