We’re proud to announce that Shaun Tinney joins Substance on September 4, 2007 as Director of Experimental Projects. A self-proclaimed mashupreneur, Shaun is passionate about using the existing and emerging technologies to create great digital experiences. He is a co-founder of MashupAwards.com, a compilation of the most noteworthy mashups on the web, as well as the president of Twitterpated.com, a Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube-powered community where people can meet up with likeminded peers.
“I believe in Substance, and am excited to join them in their constant pursuit to create unique experiences, build lasting relationships, and foster a brand that has the power to change the world one idea at a time,” said Shaun. He added, “Honesty, passion, and creativity can and should be woven into every facet of life, including business. In a landscape littered with empty vision statements and flaccid corporate creeds, Substance is challenging convention by transparently building their company on a foundation of creativity and communication. And I want to be on the front line of that charge.”
“Shaun is an incredibly smart, passionate and inventive person, exactly the type of person we want working at Substance,” said Stephen Landau, co-founder of Substance. Shaun will bring his knowledge of the ever-growing world of social networks, open APIs (another way of saying “cool stuff developed by other people that we can use”), and extensive background of creating Flash-based online experiences to the Substance team. “Shaun is the kind of person that Substance is built around,” added co-founder David Lowe-Rogstad. “We knew we’d be setting an incredibly high standard with our first employee, and we couldn’t think of anyone who we’d rather have than Shaun.”
Shaun will also bring his guitar virtuoso to bear in next year’s Battle of the Bands. We are going to rock! You can learn more about Shaun Tinney here and here (for the most part, that is… he’s not the Shaun Tinney in Australia). Welcome aboard, Shaun. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have you along for the journey.

Well, congratulations! I know you’ll rock at Substance.
