Finally back from FlashBelt. I’ve got plenty of work waiting for me, so I’ll jump right into the highlights:

Big thanks to Dave at Pilotvibe. Not only is he one of the genuine nice guys and a great sound designer, he puts on one hell of a conference. I plan on going back next year and hope that you can make it there too.

This was my first trip to Minneapolis, and it’s a great city. I must admit, I rate cities on how much they remind me of Portland, and Minneapolis stacked up. Good coffee, nice architecture, great food, great bars and almost enough fixies to be respectable.

I’ve heard that people in the midwest are so friendly. Maybe it was because we were leaving Minneapolis, but TSA people at the airport didn’t get the “we’re super friendly here” memo. I’ll take PDX over that experience.

Josh Davis opened with this. Freakin awesome. And, to paraphrase Josh, Stevie didn’t do this with AS3. It’s not the tool kids, it’s the user.

Completely freaking out the night before that my subject was totally out of place for the conference, but it went well (at least I think it did). Tell me the truth, I can take it. Still, it was an honor to be in the same league with so many great speakers.

Dinner and general Flash geek talk with Paul Ortchanian. Paul, you owe me dinner when you come to Portland.
