I wanna rock. I want to ROCK.

We received an email invitation (just like everyone on the PAF mailing list) to join in the fracas to be known as Portland Ad Fed’s Battle of the Bands. How could we possibly resist this call to rock? Now we just got to get the band back together, come up with $150 for the entry fee (where are we gonna get that kind of scratch?), and figure out what songs to play…

The theme for the battle is “buttrock,” meaning that’s the genre of songs we’ll be playing. I’ve heard that buttrock can be defined as 1970’s rock (what you’d listen to in your Camaro), and also 1980’s hair metal (also what you’d listen to in your Camaro). And in this age of interactive community, we thought we’d open it up to you to help choose the songs with us. So… if you have a favorite buttrock song you’d want to hear (the battle is on Tuesday, June 26th at the Someday Lounge), put it in the comments, or email us at info (at) findsubstance (dot) com. Once we get all the selections, we’ll throw together a little survey to choose the top 3 for our set list.

Thanks in advance for helping us rock.

Loverboy – Everybody’s Working For the Weekend, because I would love to see Stephen sing, “You want a piece of my heart!? You better start from the start!”

Rat – Round and Round, two votes.

? – The Warrior as in “Shootin’ at the walls of heartache: Bang-bang.”
